Everything you say to a child either builds him up or tears him down.
There is no middle ground.

- Carolyn Richert

After ten years of helping people around the world with this website, it is time to make some important changes:

  • A new ORGANIZATION: Take Five, Inc. is now the organization that coordinates, manages and supports all the activities of DWD - seminars, workshops, webinars, publications, training and the rest. The official purpose of and rationale for this organization are cited below in small print. A fuller explanation is available upon request.
  • New RECOGNITION: Take Five, Inc. is officially registered as a charitable (501c3) organization with both the State of Kansas and the I.R.S. As such, all contributions are tax-deductible. A Board of Directors all of whom have had ongoing involvement with DWD through the years will guide the functions of this new non-profit organization.
  • A new OPPORTUNITY: While many thousands of readers have found much-needed help in the pages of DWD, we have never given the opportunity to show appreciation with financial gifts. Now that opportunity is available. We invite you to use it because every penny donated goes into making DWD accessible to more people around the world.
  • A new NAME: After much thought and deliberation, we have decided to attach a new set of words to DWD that more accurately describe what we represent. That new name - DIRECTION WITH DIGNITY.
  • DWD Logo - Heart with Arrow A new LOGO:
    (See explanation and
    new bi-line below.)
  • A new BI-LINE: '...from the inside out'. The most wholesome type of human development comes as both children and their adult leaders learn the difference between managing from the outside in vs. from the inside out.
  • A new DWD WEBSITE: While thousands of people still visit and are helped by the considerable content of our current website, the fact is that, besides needing to reflect our new name, Direction With Dignity, the technology and scope of the current site is very much in need of updating. So, we have contracted with a leading educational firm in the New Orleans area to create a vastly new and improved website that, beyond utilizing current technology, will offer many new services and opportunities for our readers to learn and perfect their child management skills.
